Our final homeschool day for 2009

On Friday our home school group held it's end of year presentation and concert. We had a wonderful time the children all received award certificates, participated in the concert, and received a lollie bag. The high light of the afternoon however had to be the DVD presentation of the past years get togethers and activities. This was put together by one of our very generous and talented mums and in addition to watching it on Friday a copy was given to each and every family. Ours has been watched a number of time and I'm sure it will be a treasured keep sake in years to come.

Parents were asked to provide certificate of achievement to be presented to the children during the afternoon. Here Paddy receives his participation in pre school certificate.  

Anthony, Nick and Luke all receive their award certificates. Mummy even received an award  "the mother with the most kids" Now that was a fore gone conclusion. 

After the presentation of certificates many of the children performed in the concert. Our Gang sang "The Twelve Day's of Christmas" and "I'll Make a Man Out of You"

Amiee love to sing for an audience she had a great time joining in the activities.

   

 

We're Praying for Sweet Galadriel

 It's been a very trying few days for the good folk at Trinity Acres. On friday they received this  devastating news. Tonight their precious daughter lies in an intensive care ward after surgery to remove what was first believed to be inoperable. Please, please keep Galadriel and her dear family in your prayers.

O QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, Most Holy Virgin, we venerate thee. Thou art the beloved Daughter of the Most High God, the chosen Mother of the Incarnate Word, the Immaculate Spouse of the Holy Spirit, the Sacred Vessel of the Most Holy Trinity.
O Mother of the Divine Redeemer, who under the title of Our Lady of Good Remedy comes to the aid of all who call upon thee, extend thy maternal protection to us. We depend on thee, Dear Mother, as helpless and needy children depend on a tender and caring mother.

Hail, Mary....

O LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, grant that we may draw from thy treasury of graces in our time of need.
Touch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the poor and the hopeless; aid the sick and the suffering. May they be healed in body and strengthened in spirit to endure their sufferings with patient resignation and Christian fortitude.

DEAR LADY OF GOOD REMEDY, source of unfailing help, thy compassionate heart knows a remedy for every affliction and misery we encounter in life. Help me with thy prayers and intercession to find a remedy for my problems and needs, especially for...Galadriel’s complete return to health
On my part, O loving Mother, I pledge myself to a more intensely Christian lifestyle, to a more careful observance of the laws of God, to be more conscientious in fulfilling the obligations of my state in life, and to strive to be a source of healing in this broken world of ours.
Dear Lady of Good Remedy, be ever present to me, and through thy intercession, may I enjoy health of body and peace of mind, and grow stronger in the faith and in the love of thy Son, Jesus.

Thursday Fun Day

We  have worked hard for most of the holiday's so yesterday we decided to take some time out and meet up with friends at a local nature reserve.

While this was Mikes first visit to the nature reserve the children and I have been there a number of times before. A few of our children have walked to the waterfalls that lie within the reserves boundary but I have never done it myself. This however changed yesterday and with Damian in the sling and Mike there to help we all set off up the track to the falls.

We haven't had much rain lately so the waterfall it's self was a little disappointing. Mike and the children climbed over the rocks right up to the base of the falls.

Please Pray for the Barrett Family

It is with a heavy heart that I as your prayers for the Barrett Family. Yesterday while attending a father son camp  Mary Ellen's 14 year old autistic son Ryan went missing. Ryan unfortunately had drowned please keep this dear family in your Prayers at this most difficult time.

Grant eternal rest unto Ryan O Lord

May perpetual light shine upon him always

May his soul and the souls of the faithfully departed

through the mercy of God rest in peace

Prayer at the Birth of a Sick Infant

Hopeful Mother,

I turn to you in prayer

not for myself, but for baby Matthew Karol.

 

Blessed Mother,

You have walked were now his mother treads

You embraced your Son with such tenderness and love

Though your heart was filled with worry.

 

Holy Mother,

I pray that through your Son

You will bring healing to baby Matthew

That his parents, also will know that

sweet intimacy of Mother and Child.

Medieval Fun Day

Yesterday our local home school group held a medieval fun day. The children dressed in costume and a member of the local medieval guild came and put together a very informative display about life in medieval times.

Colin's collection of swords and medieval weapons was definitely a big hit

 

Josh is a member of the local medieval guild and as such helped colin put on a display of sword fighting

 

 The littlies to try their hand at sword fighting using shields and swords made out of latex. Here Anthony (in the red) and friend W have a great time trying to get the best of each other, lots of fun and very cute.

 

The older boys get a chance to try their hand at sword fighting as well, Chris (in the brown) tries to out smart D. It was really great how the children were able to participate in the display not just sit and listen to someone talk.

After colin's talk we shared a lunch of typical medieval food and then the children joined in with a number of different activities. Here Josh teaches some of the bigger boys how to make chain mail.

Praying for a Miracle

My friend Emily's little boy needs a miracle he has been diagnosed with a serious heart condition which in most cases causes death before the baby reaches full term. Please join us in praying the following Novena written by the Anchoress for the intercession of John Paul the Great for baby Matthews complete healing.

Novena to John Paul the Great for the healing of Matthew Karol Snow's heart:

Holy Father, John Paul II, Shepherd and Teacher, you are now in glory in heaven, in the company of angels and saints. As in life you were bowed by illness, you are now bowed before the Throne of the Most High, in humble thanksgiving and praise. We remember you on earth, in your many holy works, and in your holy suffering. We your flock recall your prayerfulness, your energy, your charity and your boundless faith in the mercy and love of our Creator and Lord - a love which you preached in season and out, in sickness and in health, with passion and with pain. We ask you now to hear our prayers for (name intention) and to deliver them to the Throne of the Lord, reminding Him of the words his friends said to him during his earthly sojourn, “Lord, the one you love is sick…”

Seven Little Australians No More

I have just been onto town to see Erin and Prince Charmings latest little Blessing. A beautiful bouncing baby boy and he is just the sweetest little fellow. Congratulations to all at Seven Little Australians or should that read Eight Little Australians?
