Mama Why Did You Kill Us?

   I have just read a small booklet published by Tan titled Mama Why Did You Kill Us? This is the true story of a Catholic mother and wife who aborted seven children and was subsequently "haunted" by their souls. She addresses her narrative to "all mothers" saying " that I would not want the same thing to happen to any mother" in a bid to warn other of the dire consequences of abortion. Through the author's story we are able to witness the true effect of abortion upon the conscience of the mother, the reality is that many many women experience deep personal suffering as a result of abortion. This womens witness however goes far beyond the suffering and tragedy of abortion it also points the way to pardon and peace as it demonstrates the great redemptive mercy shown by our Lord through his sacraments, especially that of confession.

Prayer to End Abortion

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.

I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.

I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.

I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all.
