This weeks Renaissance fair is in honour of St. Francis of Assisi so I thought this was an appropriate time to introduce you to some of the feathered and furred members of the family. It's spring here in Australia and we've had a profusion of baby animals born in the last few weeks So this post will focus on our new additions.
Our house cow Jewel and her new calf.
Baby geese, these guys are just the cutest so soft and downy
We always have lots of baby chickens and these are the first for this year.
At last count we have six new additions to our Guinea pig family
If you look under daddy's breast you can make out the little dove
This scrawny little one is a budgie chick, the children think it looks like a jelly bean and really it's not much bigger then one.
We have seven baby goats these two belong to our milk goat and they are the youngest of this years goat babies.
The feast of St. Francis is on October 4th and as this fair was inspired by him I think it's only appropriate that we finish off with a prayer in the good saints honour.
Blessed are you, Lord God,
maker of all living creatures.
On the fifth and sixth days of creation,
you called forth fish in the sea,
birds in the air and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all animals
his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless this animal.
By the power of your love,
enable it to live according to your plan.
May we always praise you
for all your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.

Have the dove and budgie chicks survived?? I didn't know the doves eggs had hatched! I had actually forgotten they had eggs, but that's beside the point. So much life happening at home!! So weird that life continues to happen at home with out me there!! (Not weird, really... but I am still getting use to the idea)
